Acronis Backup Cloud has been a vital tool for DMI Networking, a managed service provider for dentists, in efficiently backing up servers and devices. This transition from eFolder to Acronis Backup Cloud not only resulted in significant cost savings of over $1500 per month but also introduced a range of enhanced features. One such feature is the ability to virtualize a server from backup media, enabling quick restoration of dental practices within just 15 minutes. The implementation of Acronis Backup Cloud by two individuals at DMI Networking has allowed them to offer this reliable backup solution to multiple organizations they handle.
Thanks to its comprehensive coverage, Acronis Backup Cloud effectively secures entire systems, including cloud, virtual, and mobile platforms. Its ability to facilitate bare-metal restore in case of major crashes ensures uninterrupted operations for dental practices. In addition, Acronis Backup Cloud offers seamless integration with VMware Vcloud and Office 365 mailboxes, making it an ideal choice for DMI Networking's backup needs. The advantage of accessing backups from anywhere and easily restoring or downloading backup items from the online console further adds flexibility and convenience to the backup process. With Acronis Backup Cloud as their primary solution for backup and disaster recovery, DMI Networking has found it easier than ever to ensure business continuity for their managed customers. Whether it's on-premises or cloud-based infrastructures, including databases like Exchange and SQL, Acronis Backup Cloud offers compatibility and flexibility that aligns with diverse IT environments. The significant reduction in backup infrastructure costs and improved reliability achieved through this software have further solidified Acronis Backup Cloud as an essential tool for DMI Networking. Additionally, the support for virtual machines of hyper-v and VMWare simplifies the execution and storage of backups in the Acronis cloud. DMI Networking's IT department relies on Acronis Backup 12 standard edition as a reliable solution for backing up their local environment, encompassing VMware machines and physical Windows servers.

(1-13 of 13)Acronis Review
- Backups up to any media
- Recovery of backups
- easy of use
- remote management
- cloud backups are extra
Acronis Advanced Backup review
- Incremental backups, easy to configure
- Recovery of granular files very easy
- Bare metal backup with incremental was a bit more complex but functions very well
- Bare metal recovery works but, as expected dependent on internet speed
- The documentation has improved over the years but still has some holed - tech support is always there to help
- SEIM reporting could be improved. The alerts are fine but integration to SEIM is weak
Nothing beats on premise backup / recovery speed but, when it is not available, Acronis Advanced Backup gets the job done for bare metal recovery.
- Creating Bootable Media for image creation
- Allows you to create differential backups to an existing archive
- Includes on-premises antivirus protection and quarantine services as bundled in their product suite
- Includes additional tools like DriveCleanser for fully wiping drives/data destruction.
- They do not sell their product directly, so a reseller is needed - or third party website to process payments for them in order to download the product suite.
- They have done away with stand-alone software purchases, and have moved to a yearly subscription-based model. It's affordable, but you never truly "own" the software now.
Be safe with Acronis Advanced Backup

- You can easily restore your data
- You can also protect and update your workload
- More technical documentation
- More options for diy problem solving
- More realiability on failed task
- Single pane of glass for managing customer tenants
- Quick and reliable backup recovery
- Both onsite and offsite backup destinations are supported
- Integrations with third-party products like ConnectWise Manage and ConnectWise Automate do not function as well as they could
- Inconsistent endpoint stability with new version releases
- Constant changes in licensing models are confusing
Acronis Backup Cloud, untouchable
- Powerful deduplication
- Fast (incremental) backup jobs
- Really intuitive
- Stable
- To be honest, I can not find any shortfalls with the solution
Acronis Backup Cloud Review
- Secures any platform.
- Works seamlessly with Acronis apps.
- Off-site storage.
- Expensive.
- It can be complicated.
- You need to have Acronis backup for the cloud part to function.
Great functionality and features at a reduced cost
- Disaster recovery with offsite backups
- Management of backup with great reporting
- ease of use and deployment
- support needs to be better
- API integration
- better re-seller program with higher margins
- Full image and bare-metal recovery backups for any physical or virtual server.
- Physical to virtual and other tools built-in to make conversions / recoveries easier and more efficient.
- Ability to spin up servers on the fly from recovery media.
- Options to backup on premise as well as offsite to Acronis cloud.
- No option for on premises hardware BDR. This means recovery restorations rely on self-supplied hardware performance.
- License per machine can get costly if large number of computers or servers.
When we switched from eFolder, we saved over $1500 per month in our backup, and we received more features than we were getting before. Acronis Backup Cloud lets us virtualize a server from the backup media, which brings up dental practices in less than 15 minutes, as opposed to the many hours needed to do a complete restore.
I was the person who chose Acronis Backup Cloud and negotiated the contract with them. I also provide the backup solution to clients and am one of two people here who implement it for them.
- Quick Virtualization. Acronis can virtualize most systems and get you back up in 15-30 minutes.
- Encryption of Backups. You own the encryption key, and Acronis doesn't - so not even Acronis employees can get into your cloud data. Encryption meets all HIPAA requirements for data protection.
- Easy to resell. You can create accounts for individuals outside of the company to allow them access to their backup console. It's very easy to set up, and clients are happy with how easy it is to use.
- The website is pretty slow and will kick you off sometimes. I know they are working on this. For now, this is the biggest problem we have with Acronis.
- Their support team isn't great. It can take a while to get an issue resolved, although issues do not happen frequently.
Or, if you have Macs that need to be backed up, you can do that as well. You can grab either full volume images, or files/folders.
I can't really think of a scenario that you would not want Acronis Backup Cloud, except pre-Server 2012 OS's, since virtualization isn't supported on those older systems.
Backup in the Cloud!!!
- Backup of information quickly and effectively
- Easy data restoration
- A simple and quick enablement of the tool, with a simple administration
- That there were more agents that could be supported in the cloud
Easy to use and set up.
- The Acronis backup console is easy to use.
- Acronis offers an online recovery console to access items quickly and easily.
- The ability to backup and restore Office 365 mailboxes.
- Creating backup plans and schedules is simple.
- Email alerts notifying administrators on backup failures.
- The backup deduplication and compression features is one of industries best.
- The fact Acronis is an OS client base backup, which leads to more backup failures. Although most issues can be corrected with restarting services.
- Recovering backups from the cloud(internet) is a lot slower then acessing local backups.
- The backup error reports are not detailed enough to help administrators fix issues.
Works unexpectedly well
- Up to date UI, convenient central management interface, web-based console (we use local web console)
- Good to backup all machines (PC, windows server, Vmware) using a single tool
- More features needed - tapes support, more advanced deduplication
