It's basically our layer two and layer three connectivity for those campuses. We utilize the Cisco Meraki dashboard to help monitor and help have visibility from our, that way we don't have to drive an hour to look at something or rely on a terminal on the site to gain access to set equipment.
  • I think the cloud connectivity is very good. It helps as far as a manageability standpoint, it's top notch. I think that's the biggest bang for the buck. And also plug and play. You just plug it in and it works. It may not work exactly how you want it, but it works. You may have to do some other configurations.
  • I think the biggest improvement is actually being able to see the hardware status, like the actual CPU status, memory status. Is there something, if there's an issue, one of the biggest issues that we've had is we could see whether some port information, we can see some ups and downs, but we don't, unlike the Cisco Catalyst series which we use also, we are able to dig in and confidently look at like, Hey, why is this device having an issue? We can't really do that with Cisco Meraki. We just kind of have, see if it's up or down and we like, well, we don't know exactly why it's down or we don't know why it could be having an issue.
I think small to medium sized campuses, it's very well suited for, especially also if you're managing it from a remote location, then it's very useful there.

We use it for interconnectivity on the layer two-level as far as connecting all data, and wireless voice connectivity between IDFs, MDFs, and WAN connections.
  • What it does really well is the connectivity to our dashboard, the Meraki dashboard. It gives us visibility for ports. We can see when we have issues, the ease of use as far as configuring, also keeping firmware updates. I could go on and on. It's very helpful.
  • Some room for improvement, which is funny because I noticed that it's coming out with this is the dashboard is limited in identifying overheating type issues, fan failures, some core issues that the units can come up with over heat exposure time, which I noticed in one of the sessions this week that it seems to be going to be adding that as a feature coming up. So I was glad to hear that.
Well, I guess what makes it well-suited? We're in education, so what makes it well suited, especially if you have a limited staff, just the visibility of the dashboard that you can see so much information in one pane of glass when you definitely have limited staff. Trying to eliminate those panes of glass is very important to us.

So generally use this as the access layer, connect devices to it, connect up to the distribution switches, and that sort of thing. Also, use it to connect wireless access points and that sort of thing. So basically as a switch and yeah, just use it for different functions. So different sites.
  • So I enjoy the GUI, I think it makes the product comes with it makes it very easy to kind of see what's going on. I like that you're able to manage a lot of switchboards all at once and do a lot of modifications there. And it has a lot of security features that generally you have to configure on the CLI, but it comes as part of just the gooey part that you just implement there. I think it does redundancy very well. It does span and tree very well, so the switches between the interfaces and the switches, you can just set what the route is going to be pretty easily. And the troubleshooting for the device is very well. You need to call and get support. It's very quick and they solve a problem very quickly so it's great.
  • It's kind of a double-edged sword with the GUI because you get a clean interface but you lose some, of being able to do granular things with it. And I've had certain things where you're looking for where to find the thing, you're on the device and that can be kind of tricky having to click to different menus and certain things get a little confusing when you're trying to put it in a larger scale. Also, I think that there's other products that are similar like the Cisco MS390's that have features of the Cisco MS3 fees and it makes it kind of hard when making purchasing decisions because if you're already committed to one now you have to swap to another one to get a certain feature you might want. And so some compatibility issues can be kind of tricky.
I think branch offices and smaller locations are really good areas where you're trying to stand up sites quickly, point of presence sites are very good for it. I've had a lot of success in just quickly getting things out there and deploying them with the solution. And yeah, I'd say those are probably good locations for it.

We have 160 subsidiaries and need affordable and cloud managed switches for our smaller subsidiaries. Cisco Meraki MS switches are the perfect match because they are worldwide available and not too expensive. Easy licensing model includes warranty and support. Furthermore a good compatibility / coexistence with Cisco switches was an important point for us.
  • Management from the cloud, no need to have VPN to the local subsidiary
  • Good price to cost ratio
  • Easy and fast setup
  • Integrates perfectly with Meraki APs and Meraki Routers
  • Boot of the switch does take 2 minutes
  • Cannot connect via SSH into the switch
  • No CLI
  • Local status page of the switch provides little information
Generally Cisco Meraki MS switches are a good solution if there is no direct access to the Headquarters via VP or if the switch simply needs to be managed via internet.

The switch cannot be used if there is not internet connection available. E.g. in production / manufacutring networks it's not usable.

I am Solution Integrator for Cisco Products, so I sell them and install them.
  • Cloud Management
  • Easy to configure
  • Monitoring simplicity
  • Continue to expand the Catalyst line for Meraki Management
  • Intershare SFP Modules between Catalyst and Meraki
Again, cloud monitoring and management functions. Looking forward to AI integration for onboarding and implementation.

We have used this product for a number of years and can honestly say it is one of the easiest switches to work with. I came into networking on Meraki and am so glad for the user friendly dashboard and configuration of the Cisco Meraki MS. They have stackable and lone MS options and both are extremely easy to work on.
  • Configuration
  • Setup
  • Dashboard-friendly
  • Boot time
  • Hold up to lightning strikes better
  • Clone time
For use in a senior living facility, the stackable and redundant power options for the Cisco Meraki MS 250s is very resourceful.

I use Cisco Meraki MS to manage switches and configurations at our sites.
  • Ease of use
  • Detecting crc errors within the dashboard
  • Simplicity of configuring switches
  • The clone feature to copy configuration from one switch to another switch is sometimes buggy. I will receive errors but not sure why.
  • 1x errors seems to show up often even when radius is working.
Cisco Meraki MS is good because of the simplicity and ease of use.

  • API and Automation
  • Monitoring
  • Centralized Management
  • Templating and being able to set some global variables
  • Better alerting structures and customizability
Cisco Meraki MS is well suited for large and straightforward environments that are repeatable environments.

We use Cisco Meraki MS products in our organization because it is an easy to use network solution for our organization. The Meraki Dashboard gives us a single pane of glass for all our Meraki products such as our switches, AP, and security cameras.
  • Single Pane Dashboard to manage all Meraki products
  • Easy to use and to config the switches
  • Excellent technical support
  • Configuring routing have too many clicks
  • Does not have a way to check the strength of fiber connection
Cisco Meraki MS is well suited for organizations where there is a limited number of IT staff and not everyone is well versed with Cisco Catalyst products. Cisco Meraki MS provide a single pane screen and make it easy to figure out if there as an issue on MS product or any other Meraki devices.

We use Cisco Meraki MS 120, ms 225 and ms 350 devices in access , distribution and core switching. The devices can be stacked and uplinked to 10 G bits per second. The scope is to have a switching platform managed from a single point of manage that you can control from anywhere and any desk or device.

Cisco Meraki MS Switch is a solution that we are using in different scenarios. You can use for a big company with different branches where you can configure all the network in a simple way or you can use Cisco Meraki MS switching in a small company where they don't have a big IT department to manage all the devices. You can also see the wifi and firewall in the same dashboard.

Deploying different sizes of networks. We usually mainly use Cisco Meraki MS for the small / medium networks. Deploying all in one solution (Cisco Meraki MS, MX and MR). Managing and applying automations based templates. Leveraging on Meraki dashboard to send webhooks to our monitoring platform and tools. Integrating the Meraki dashboard with 3rd parties tools and other management solutions.

  • Configuration Simplicity
  • Templates
  • Integration with 1000eyes
  • Documentation

Im selling Cisco Meraki MS, MX and MR everyday. There are different products inside the Cisco Meraki MS, MX and the MR that make it easy for the customer to choose from depending on their needs and size of their network.
  • Easy to connect
  • Easy to deploy
  • Easy to start it on dashboard
  • I see Cisco Meraki MS products as a perfect product
  • Maybe it would be better if there is a way where the power cord can be included with the hardware instead of selling it separately
Don’t have any reason to say where the Cisco Meraki MS is less appropriate. Maybe the only thing I can mention is that I wish that the power cable is in the box.

We use Cisco Meraki MS switches as a replacement for our old Cisco Catalyst switches because our environment is quite simple and we don't need the full feature set of the Catalyst series.
  • Switching
  • Monitoring
  • Reliability
  • Ease of management
  • More features
Because the Cisco Meraki MS platform is cloud-based, options are limited for you when cloud connectivity is not yet established. More troubleshooting options should be available to establish and troubleshoot initial cloud access.

We use Cisco Meraki MS to deliver an easy, manageable solution to switching to many of our clients. Many clients have small network teams. The ability to log in and configure ports from a cloud management helps them to easily manage their switching network. Port profiles allow the quick configuration of multiple ports, and large scale changes are very easy. Clients love the visibility, and ease of configuration. One thing that could improve, is when port profiles are in use, the switch overview screen displays the incorrect information for each configured port. If this could match the info related to the port profile configured, it would improve this feature.
  • Port Profiles
  • Large scale changes
  • Firmware upgrades
  • Autostacking
  • Port profile visibly on switch port overview
  • There are no large scale switch models such as the 9600/9400
Cisco Meraki MS is easy to configure and manage, small teams can really benefit from using the dashboard. Alerts help to keep on top of issues and port schedules can help to reduce power usage by power of devices in times they may not be required.

We resell Cisco Meraki MS all the time. The visibility in the dashboard is really great, usage of ports etc is great. Setting up vlans and grouping switches by using tags are very simple. Our consultants are very happy with using the products and so is the customers. They are also sturdy, I don’t see any support cases either. Meaning that I’m confident reselling the MS series.

  • Ease of configuration
  • Rliability
  • Resell the MS through distribution
  • Please use the same OS over catalyst and Meraki

I work for Deutsche telekom, and we install MS devices for end customers. We use Cisco Meraki MS switches a lot for customer installations from MS120 to MS130 to MS 390 or 9300. whether in the access or core area via a flexible stack. The rollout and operation of the devices are quick and easy. The dashboard offers many options for this.
  • Simple administration and configuration
  • Software update and management
  • Operation and replacement of the devices in the event of a fault
  • Spanning tree configuration (MST, Per-VLAN)
  • Exchange of devices from different model series incl. migration of the configuration
  • Better event logging and troubleshooting options for error analysis
Cisco Meraki MS is well suited for the use of temporary locations. Branch offices, trade fair stands, and laboratory locations must be set up and operated on short notice. Locations with few technical staff that are operated on-site by employees themselves. The switches can be quickly installed and configured.

Due to reliability, support, and ease of use, we migrated from a Ubiquiti stack to Cisco Meraki MS. We have a small infrastructure team that doesn't have deep networking experience. The single pane of glass dashboard and intuitive structure made supporting the network a breeze. In addition to daily support, firmware, and configuration updates are simple to push out individually or en masse.
  • Intuitive Port Configuration
  • Quick Stacking
  • Low Stress Maintenance
  • Only MSP's get dark mode
  • Could use an inexpensive 4-8 port offering
I came into my org from the MSP space ripped out a Ubiquiti stack, and brought in Cisco Meraki MS, and we have loved it since.

We typically use Cisco Meraki MS switching for most of our remote sites where connectivity requirements are relatively simple and locations are very remote. Meraki Dashboard allows us to provision new hardware using existing onsite resources (technical, but non-IT people, like electricians, mechanics, etc.) and avoid costly technician deployments. The ease of consumption of telemetry in Dashboard allows non-networking IT teams and site management personnel to understand usage patterns and real time issues without having to engage support teams and without being overwhelmed by technical detail.
  • Traffic accounting, patterns, visualisation
  • Ease of deployment
  • Simplicity of management (e.g. automated updates)
  • Lack of detailed troubleshooting information (e.g. failures to find a path to internet)
  • Limited port security options
  • Limited optical performance information
Cisco Meraki MS is brilliant in very simple environments where basic segregation is required. Many features are pre-configured as defaults and this makes it easy to configure security and stability features like STP protections and UDLD. It is capable of some more complex functions, such as dot1x authentication. TAC support is easy to access and usually timely. Bundling support into the license and making it available through Dashboard is great.

We have had issues monitoring the Cisco Meraki Dashboard using legacy SNMP based system - this means we now effectively have one more network monitoring screen to watch. We also sorely lack an ageing timer for stick MAC address port security - essential in uncontrolled locations with no NAC available. We have also had issues with devices pulling DHCP leasing from the wrong VLAN on initial provisioning and then struggling to transition to our management VLAN when the full config is pulled.

These switches are used for connecting small offices, typically we were looking for access switches and these come in handy. We use layer 2 switches and some layer 3 switches depending on the need. We require stackable switches and MS switches are perfect for these
  • Stacking
  • User interface
  • Cloud based
  • Security
  • More robust
  • Improve on latency
We use these for small offices where they come in perfectly. we use a MX as a firewall to protect the access layer but where this is needed for isolated LAB these switches are perfect and since they are cloud managed, it can be configured on the go

The problems of repetitive updates were solved. It is important for those who are looking for the ease of access of being able to update their systems properly, and with increased ease to use this product. It had greatly helped the efficiency of my and my team.
  • Cisco Meraki MS is easy to collaborate on with others.
  • The purpose of Cisco Meraki MS is fulfilled, as it properly makes updating networks easier than before.
  • I would rather have a more minimalistic user interface.
Cisco Meraki MS is well suited when working with network architecture, and me and my team have thoroughly appreciated its helpfulness to our project.
