What is TestGorilla?
TestGorilla is an assessment tool primarily used to screen candidates for technical roles. The tool was built using Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) standards with the goal of reducing unconscious bias in the hiring process. Candidates are ranked based on their scores rather than any other factor, so recruiters see the most qualified candidates first every time
TestGorilla differs from other technical skills assessment products in that it also offers tests for non-technical skills. TestGorilla may be advantageous to the user who is looking for a product that does both technical and non-technical skills assessments in one platform.
Another difference between TestGorilla and some of its competitors is its use of one-way video interviewing. Many technical skills assessment platforms offer the option of a live interview session, whereas TestGorilla allows candidates to record their answers to pre-set questions for the recruiter to watch and evaluate later.
Scientific Approach
Per the vendor, all assessments on TrustGorilla were built using a scientific approach. TestGorilla employs a psychometrics team that specializes in assessment design who work in tandem with subject matter experts to design the tests. The tests also go through a peer-review process before implementation.
TestGorilla re-evaluates its tests on an ongoing basis. Their algorithms look for indicators that allow them to make improvements. Using measures like Cronbach’s alpha, they track the internal consistency of questions.
Per TestGorilla, they verify the content validity of each test with the US Department of Labor’s skills analyses and UGESP framework of employee selection. To evaluate the predictive validity of their tests, they also follow up with customers about the performance of candidates hired using TestGorilla. Using this data, they are able to give recommendations about which tests should be used based on the role being evaluated.
In order to prevent cheating on assessments, TestGorilla employs several measures including periodic webcam shots of the candidate. TestGorilla does not allow copy-paste within their assessments and alerts when a candidate leaves full screen to prevent them from researching during the assessment.
Support Throughout the Hiring Process
TestGorilla provides support for employers throughout the hiring process. Customers can build assessments for their available positions based on TestGorilla suggestions. Customers can also add custom questions to each assessment.
Invitations can be sent out to candidates in bulk within TestGorilla’s platform or via a company’s ATS. After invitations are sent, there is a tracking feature built into the platform that allows customers to track where each candidate is in the hiring process.
Candidate results are reported instantly on a dashboard that allows customers to see how each candidate ranks and evaluate their responses to any video interview questions. Once a decision is reached, TestGorilla allows for bulk-rejection emails to those who were not selected for the role.
