My office is using Cisco DNA Spaces to apply the captive portals and to be able to identify what type of clients visit us and how often through the information they provide in the registry, in addition the captive portals serve us to send internal information as well as the measurements hygiene or COVID protocols to follow within our organization.
  • Locations analytics.
  • Application integration.
  • Data API.
  • To be able to download the information obtained from the captive portals in a more agile way.
  • Download reports from the dashboard.
Well suited: Retail. Workspaces. Less appropriate: Industrial spaces or open spaces when tracking people or objects is required.

Cisco Spaces makes our hybrid environment work more fluidly. Cisco Spaces not only tells our technicians when space is at a max level but also tells us when rogue devices are on our network. Cisco Spaces works by providing insight on not only what resources are used but if the bandwidth is being used beyond capacity and where. There are so many different types of metrics that you have access to that you can customize to your dashboard to see only the metrics you need for your business.
  • Connecting the Hybrid Environment
  • Indoor Analytics
  • Location of devices
  • Be able to better lock out devices outside the active window
  • More precise location tracking
  • Better integration for the switches with the cloud
Cisco Spaces is well suited from Small businesses to large businesses. The ability for Cisco Spaces to scale as your business scale is an important feature to leverage, especially for small businesses. The insights for the Cisco Spaces are helpful to the organization with utilizing what access points we have where and what load the access points are taking on. Our business also likes the fact that the switches, access points, and other Cisco equipment can be seen all in one, anywhere anytime. This makes it easier to manage our equipment.

So the biggest issue that we ran into is most people in healthcare know about a DAS. So a DAS is very expensive and you also have to pay the carrier to take care of it and you don't get any of your data open. We looked at open roaming as a way of not using a local DAS, using our existing infrastructure with our wireless Cisco hardware to be able to cut that in about a third of the price and to also kind of speed up the deployment as well. So we have her working at four hospitals right now.
  • So the first thing it does really well is a lot of our sites are rural, so we don't have very good cellular connectivity. So we invested in this product because we want our clients, our customers that are coming in to be able to walk in and be able to use a our wireless infrastructure just like it was a cellular device. So they don't even know, they walk in, they think, man, my cellular's better right now. I can do all the things that I wanna do. I can do video. And they don't even know. So that's the biggest bonus for us.
  • There's actually only one. It is easy to use, easy to deploy, but in the back end, you guys have a partnership in general with AT&T and T-Mobile. I'm looking for you guys to have Verizon added to that. So I know you guys are working on that, but that's probably the biggest thing I have.
So it is best used if you are an AT&T or T-Mobile user for one. Number two, if your infrastructure has, you need to have the wireless coverage to use this in spaces. So you've got to have a good solid wire. If you have a smaller area or lack of coverage, it's not gonna work well for you.

So we use it for a variety of ways. We use it for location tracking. We have clinical communication iPads and iPhones that nurses and departments use to communicate with each other. It helps us track those. If they get lost or stolen or anything like that, we can determine where they were or if they were headed outside, which typically means they're stolen. We also use it to track. We have patient iPads that we hand out for streaming, Netflix, Hulu, that type of stuff, and we can track those. If somebody put it in a backpack and left with it or something like that, we give the patient a call and go "Hey, did you maybe wander off with one of our iPads?" Usually it's a, oh God, I'm so sorry. But we also use it, there's an integration with our wireless environment for Stanley Aeroscout. It tracks medical assets beyond the phones using BLE, and it also helps us track temperatures for our vaccines, blood banks, that type of thing. So nurses don't have to manually go open up a fridge, get out the little check box and write down the temperature. It's automated for them.
  • It does, especially while integration with other systems. That's my favorite functionality of it, is anything that we've asked it to integrate with, there's always an integration or it can be designed relatively easily.
  • It's also very user-friendly. We trained a bunch of non-technical people, our security team to be able to track and see when devices are being stolen versus being in the hospital, and how to try and secure the devices a little bit better ever.
  • I would say out-of-the-box plugins. It's very easy to make it for DNA spaces, but I'd love to see more part more companies partner with them so that the plugins are just available to add on right out of the box. You don't have to work with a vendor and say, "Hey, I need you to come in and develop this API", it's already there. That would be the one thing that I would say that could get a little bit more help with.
So in our experience, it's been really well suited because we run a Cisco wireless environment. It fits perfectly for us. We've got all of the maps for our hospital and everything so it maps in all of our clients and we can track anything from medical devices to. We've even used it to track a patient at a time or two that they decided to go for a walk. And with that so especially well in that environment, an area that it wouldn't be well in is an area that doesn't have Cisco Wireless deployed.

We use Cisco DNA Spaces for wifi analytics. Dwell time, path analysis, people counting, etc. We were an existing CMX user/customer and migrated to Spaces about 3 years ago. We also migrated out wifi portal page to Cisco DNA Spaces. This has also lessoned our administration for our server team.
  • Connect & Locate guests
  • Present Portal Page to guests
  • Gives us a rough idea of how many guests are in the Museum.
  • Portal Page changes cannot be made by the customer. You need to work with the Spaces team to modify the page.
  • APIs for extracting information is cumbersome.
  • General slowness on the platform.
Cisco DNA Spaces is well suited as a replacement for CMX. It will provide information on guest dwell time, path analysis, connect and locate. It will also provide a guest portal page if you don't have one or can migrate an existing one.

A productive network analytical tool. It has been helpful in checking wifi and internet connection at large and how that is used within the organization. It has helped in data security on the cloud based. Great in customer service by getting them easily on site location and also asset management.
  • Data import and export.
  • Asset management.
  • Customer Services.
  • Features are complicated especially on large data cases.
I would recommend it for it's usability and functionality . Great on mid sized organization or data. It offers best features to manage internet connection in wifi analytics. It is a bit hectic on large data but with help it is easy .

Our organization implemented Cisco Spaces as a way to collaborate with our remote teams. It was a game changer as it allowed our team to work together as if they were in the same physical office. Also, the integration with Webex makes it the most efficient solution for the remote workforce.
  • Virtual Metting: with all necessary features like holding video conferences, screen sharing, audio calls, etc.
  • File Sharing: User can Upload, share and collaborate on files in real time.
  • Integration with other cisco collaboration tools, like Webex.
  • Customization options are fairly limited in comparison to other collaboration tools.
  • Sometimes we experience slow performance or connection issues.
  • Learning curve is steep and required time to fully understand.
Suppose you have distributed teams that frequently need to hold virtual meetings and share files and collaborate in real life. The instant messaging feature of cisco spaces allows team members to communicate and stay in touch throughout the workday, even if they are not in the same location.

The Marketing Department in the company requested to implement a solution in order to offer free WIFI access to our customers during their visit to our stores. Also, the Marketing Manager. requested to get some visit statistics and email from our customers. As IT Department. we didn't want to replace the actual Aironet access points, so Cisco DNA Spaces was the perfect solution to address this requirement.
  • Integration to existing Cisco WLC and Aironet access points
  • Easy implementation (cloud oriented solution)
  • A good dashboard to get digitization stats
  • Very flexible to create custom portals integrated to social networks
  • It's a little expensive
  • The suport could be better for latin america countries, no spanish support
  • It needs to be integrated to Meraki access points
If you need to implement a captive portal solution, offer Wifi access, get location analytics, behavior metrics (visits, DWELL time, etc) and you have a wireless infrastructure based on Cisco Aironet/Catalyst access points or WLC, this is the perfect solution. You don't need to replace your existing hardware. I totally recommend the CISCO DNA Spaces cloud solution, it's stable and we have been using it since 2 years ago.

This application is used to track all of the things happening on the company's premises and to derive meaningful insights from the same. It also helps track employees affected by the coronavirus. Therefore, it helps us take the necessary measures for preventing further infections. Thus, it actually helps save lives in such an adverse condition.
  • Collecting data from premises
  • Deriving insights from the same
  • Tracking COVID-positive employees
  • The pricing is high
  • UI/UX can be improved
  • Initial setup takes a lot of time
Cisco DNA Spaces is good for companies with deep pockets and huge premises. Otherwise, it can be a bit expensive. The cost of additional equipment should also be taken into consideration.

We have had a great experience with Cisco DNA Spaces in our office. Captive portals give us the ability to send information. Using Cisco DNA Spaces, location-based services can be provided over WiFi reliably and securely. Numerous features, such as location analysis and real-time monitoring, are part of the package. Location analytics, engagement toolkits, enterprise integrations, and other features are available to wireless customers. By utilizing Cisco DNA Spaces, our companies can use technology to address a physical issue. Customer onboarding and contactless engagements are also beneficial because they can be used as a tool to help with your marketing strategy. The exceptional quality of Cisco products sets them apart from the competition.
  • GPS, analytic software, and application integration all work together to provide these services.
  • Insights into digital work and Cisco DNA Spaces' core can be easily adapted to fit business needs.
  • With real-time metrics and precise behavior and availability changes based on the provided data, it is possible to improve the user experience.
  • Be able to set up a DNA center and maps on your own, without Cisco Prime.
  • Reports that can be downloaded from the dashboard. Resolve licensing issues.
  • Updates are less frequent and some integration improvements are needed.
Cisco DNA Spaces can help locate assets. To track people or objects, it's possible to use industrial and open spaces at the same time. It's necessary to use proxy servers to move the data, but this tool makes it simple to analyze traffic and user density scenarios. This is a powerful tool that business users will find helpful. We can learn a lot from these datasets because there is so much data in them.

Basically, it is used by my whole organization to track location and deal with third-party apps to reflect maps on the application. It also works on deployment and configuration. It also gives an accurate number of customers and makes any call based on the information received. My overall experience is very good and I didn't see that many problems.
  • Location analysis is one of the best features.
  • During this COVID pandemic, the tracking feature works best.
  • Data API set is very large.
  • The whole ecosystem is large.
  • Need to work on mobile application.
  • On basis of security purposes, two-way authentication must be done.
  • Map must be enabled for every user, not only for prime.
  • Licensing issue.
  • Location analysis is one of the best features (need to work on weak areas).
  • After setup, the features are very easy to use but it takes a lot of time in configuration and setup.
  • The prime version provides a good business process on a day-to-day basis.

Cisco DNA Spaces is used in the organization's administrative offices to measure the number of visits and time that each employee spends in the offices. In addition, an important use case is to keep them constantly updated with hygiene measures and COVID-19 protocols through the use of WiFi on all sites.
  • Captive portals
  • Share information
  • Analytics of connected users
  • Download user information
  • Greater granularity to download reports
  • The order of the menus
Some of the scenarios where we see the greatest benefits for DNA Spaces are in the retail sector since we have thought about enabling it in our branches to be able to provide information to customers about the services we provide. I find it difficult to comment on a sector where you cannot benefit from this technology. Practically it would be where there is no need to obtain more information about the users or the wireless network in general.

We are running the Cisco DNA Spaces as a part of a project to do indoor wayfinding. The area of the project is two floors with 50 access points and a 9800 WLC.
The design has been done to support the location tracking and will be integrated with a 3rd party vendor to do the indoor maps and reflect them on a mobile application.
  • Location tracking
  • Location analytics
  • Marketing
  • Integration with other vendors
  • BLE beacon management
  • Licensing.
  • Maps without using Cisco Prime
  • Integration with ISE
Well suited:
  1. a cloud service to replace all the hardware mess needed when using on prem.
  2. location tracking
  3. location analytics.
  4. large ecosystem
  5. BLE beacon management.
  6. COVID contact tracing.
Less appropriate:
  1. integration with ISE.
  2. license per feature.
  3. subscription model.
Cisco DNA Spaces is considered to be a replacement for the Cisco CMX. It would require a proxy server to move the data from the WLC to the cloud in an Air gap model, some people will not like this due to security.

One of the best applications which can digitize human spaces. We are using it for tracking the human space and assets in our organization. Major drawback of this that it need feeds from another solutions to really work efficiently. As promised by Cisco a lot of activity is going on with licensing.
  • Clear insight of digital work.
  • Center of DNA.
  • Wireless infrastructures get improved.
  • Licensing issues.
  • Take time to set up DNA center.
  • Time consuming initial setup.
Configuration take time but as soon as it setup it is very useful to locate the assets. Improve wireless structure , able to pick the weak areas. Make easier to transition from test environment to PROD. Implementation though whole structure is very smooth and provide breath of services and offers. I personally liked the product.
