Reviews
(1-21 of 21)Tidal by Redwood Review
- Allows for development of complex workflows with little scripting knowledge required.
- Built in High-Availabity and redundancy
- Robust client interface
- Excellent audit logging which satisfies regulatory audits
- Granular permissioning providing varying levels of access to different groups
- SEV1 issues are addressed as top priority and you will not be left alone in system-down situations until you are up and running.
- Redwood is purposefully killing the Tidal product by price gauging customers on renewals. Three to Four times increase for licensing renewals.
- Tier one support seems to have no history with the product, no knowledge of automation, and asks for unnecessary volumes of information before escalating to the REAL Tidal support team. It often takes several days before someone who actually supports Tidal sees the ticket.
- Since the acquisition, support quality has taken a nose-dive for non-critical issues. Resolution times take weeks, months, if at all. Before Redwood acquired it, resolution times took hours or days.
- Tidal (before Redwood's acquisition) has a long history of using the customers as Beta testers. New versions are released without having gone through adequate testing on systems of scale.
- This vendor forces customers to update to newest release rather than fixing bugs identified in versions which never went through and adequate QA process.

TIDAL is Best to Manage the Workload
- During the patching activity or down time all the schedulers can be stopped and jobs are halted.
- Most efficient tool in doing repetitive tasks hence It saves a lot of time with minimum possibility of error.
- Alerting mechanics is at best, It provides alerts for any falling job or if any job is taking to much time to complete or if job has been completed successfully.
- The UI can be better, Initial setup is time consuming
- More customization can be added so that it meet needs of the consumers
- There is no ample training videos on this tool
This involves a lot of manual tasks which needs to be repeated more often, Tidal automation has rapidly brought down the frequency of a same task being repeated multiple times.
All that we need to do is set-up configure and schedule the tasks and it does the job perfectly with minimal errors and high accuracy.
The buil-in customization feature enables us to set-up requirements as per the needs of your Stakeholders and just get the dashboard ready on your finger tips.
- Automating repetitive task
- Scheduling Jobs
- Minimizing manual efforts and maximizing accuracy
- Monitor jobs
- Downtime needs to be reduced
- Initial Set-up is a bit complex
- Requires coding language to make best use of the software
- Insufficient Training modules
Not an appropriate fit for small size corporates where tasks are minimal and can be manually handled.
Workload automation has never been so effortless!!!!
- Time and event based scheduling
- Real time reporting
- Set up controls, policies and user access
- The GUI is currently a bit slow.
- The initial setup is tedious task and requires a bit time for new user to get hands on, but I believe this is part of the learning curve so not a big problem though.
- Tidal Automation automates repetitive tasks, making them faster and more efficient.
- the software can easily scale to accommodate growing workloads and changing business requirements
- while integrating the software with existing systems is a bit complex and time-consuming
Tidal Automation Review
- Tidal Automation allows us to automate and schedule/ perform various tasks in a easy and effective manner. It is highly interactive and effective allowing nearly 4k -5k jobs to run a day.
- Tidal is designed to be easily shareable and collaborative allowing multiple users to work at a particular time making work effective.
- Tidal allows us to ensure that every event which is triggered is exactly when it's supposed to be regardless of other activities which are going as well.
- It is user-friendly to generate the reports required of a particular object and allows us to test the codes perfectly well before executing in live environment.
- It fluctuates when there are many URL's open in use which is time consuming as it delay to load while working.
- When there are more than 1 function to perform in an object/job it is not possible as it takes 1 function at a time.
- There are some things where we need to do it repeatedly for every n mins which can be try to resolve which sometime maybe irritating as there will other activities also going on.
- Sometimes, when there are more than 2-3 TWA open and if we select a job and try to cancel, it selects the jobs which are also selected in another tab of TWA to cancel which is a serious threat in production environment.
Tidal for smart automation!
- The alerting system that are the triggers which will give a message that the tasks are being done
- The scheduler which manages the flow of work with the jobs that are being carried way in the processsing part
- The automation of tool is really reducing the tedious tasks which are done by users with less man power
- The UI can be improved as it is the face of the application to end users
- Knowledge on the application is limited
- there was a lag while integrating the sofware
- This helps to streamline workload management and reduce the risk of errors.
- Users can create workflows that incorporate conditional logic, branching, and decision points, allowing them to customize workload management to suit their specific needs.
- This makes it easier for users to manage workload across different platforms and applications, improving overall efficiency and reducing the risk of errors.
- Improvements could be made to simplify the user interface and make it more intuitive for new users.
- Improvements could be made to the documentation to make it more user-friendly and accessible.
- Improvements could be made to the customer support experience to provide more responsive and effective support to users.
Good product for SAP environments
- Management of job hierarchies
- Scheduling jobs with dependencies
- Logging job results
- Better promotion of jobs and their components.
- Better graphical depiction of jobs and their dependencies
- Dashboard for job processing statuses.
Tidalize the World!!
- Sends alerts for failed jobs, has several options if there is a failure
- Integrates well with adapters
- Is very user friendly and easy to use
- Has great customer support
- One of my objectives was to find commonalities in dependencies for success or failures and that is not something that can be exported. It would be nice if that could be included.
- The new version has a dashboard but it does no work yet.
- I would like to be able to access Tidal support in between contracts, as that is a good time to explore and learn more about Tidal.
Way to go!
- Scheduled automation, hourly/daily/weekly/monthly.
- Event driven jobs, especially file events. We have applications entirely based on file arrival.
- Across platforms; jobs are kicked off sequentially between multiple environments, Windows and Linux systems.
- Would like to see Linux agents work with OpenJDK14, right now it woks with OpenJDK11.
- Improved DR solution, as of now the DR has to be cold standby.
- Improved Java Client for version 6.5.5 work with OpenJDK.
Tidal Automation review, after 10 years of use.
Tidal Automation enables our business to have a graphical view into the schedule as well as control. If a job aborts, the schedule can pause or continue by using the events available. Our business is notified through these events so they can take action immediately for time sensitive jobs.
Job flow versatility is important to our business. Tidal Automation has many different options handling job dependencies that fulfill our needs.
- Graphical view of what's going on in the schedule. Color coded jobs statuses, etc.
- Lots of options for event handling.
- Dependency flexibility.
- Job Grouping and grouping options.
- Still a bit slow when navigating. If you close a job you have to wait a few seconds to open another one. Even when you made no changes.
- When viewing a job and make no changes, the "ok" button changes the last modified date as if you made a change. No big deal, but wastes time when troubleshooting a problem and looking into what jobs were changed last.
- You can see the parameters column in the "job activity", but not in "Job definitions".
- Can't search the parameters field in the filter.
- Changing a variable name does not change it on the job. It still works because Tidal Automation uses the ID number. It just causes confusion when you see a variable on a job and can't find the variable under "Variables". On top of that, Tidal Automation does not show the ID column under "Variables" making it even more difficult to find the variable.
- Tidal Automation is good in it's integration with Oracle ERP
- Tidal Automation was robust enough to perform all the workloads smoothly on SAP Integrations.
- Tidal Automation has the robust HA and DR features
- Tidal Automation has the best and simple user interface.
- Tidal Automation documentation is the best compared to other Workload Automation solutions in the market.
- SaaS based offering already on the product road map, but should be fast paced.
- Reporting for FTP jobs with granularity of pulling details of files transferred.
- Simple integration with the ITSM tools allowing a self help to run the jobs on submission of tickets.
Tidal Automation Review
- Tidal Automation, with the creation of Calendars, schedules and processes Jobs very well.
- Tidal Automation monitors for files being present to insert a process to consume those files.
- Tidal Automation does a very good job of monitoring and acting on dependencies for jobs to be initiated.
- Tidal Automation graphically displays JobGroups very well showing the flow of Jobs in the JobGroup.
- Tidal Repository (TR) is not very intuitive.
- I wish Job Activity shoed more information about the Job as it does in the Definition area.
- The Tidal Automation GUI needs to be cleaned up, so the sort columns actually sort.
- I would like to be able to run a report that shows the version of the Tidal Agents installed on each server.
Tidal Automation does not handle the restarting of Jobs in a JobGroup when Group Variables are used.
Tidal Workload Automation
It helped us to centralize monitoring of all systems and also send report of critical jobs. With tidal Automation new features we have integrated it with ServiceNow which will create incident automatically and update notes based on action taken on the job.
- Compare to other automation tool Tidal Automation is simple and easy to create complex task to easy way
- SAP adapter is very good for creation of SAP jobs which will run at SAP server level and to take action on jobs
- Tidal automation have to improve on performance once scheduled jobs are more than 45K jobs
- Dependency of file to pick either file name (if any one file is present to met with dependency ) and run the job
Terminator job feature which will help to automatically cancelled successor jobs .
Critical job feature which helped to track jobs complete time and send email to business people .
Region wise jobs time can be setup , which will help to track jobs based region time.
Thoughts on Tidal Automation
- Easy to use
- Stable platform
- Great support desk
- Continually enhances product
- Well designed and easy to under database structure
- Comprehensive API
- API is poorly documented
- I would like to be able to code Python, Powershell, Linux in Tidal rather than have to call a file on the server
- Agent updates must be applied manually or using third-party tools
- Limited variable functionality, no string manipulation, limited numeric manipulation
The API is powerful and comprehensive, but lacks good documentation.
The agent service is lightweight and scales well.
Calendar support for scheduling is unmatched.
Versioning support is kludgy and migrating between DEV, QA and Prod needs work.
